The information on this website is provided in good faith for general guidance about our services. Descriptions of materials, methods and timescales are indicative: every property and every ground condition differs, and the work required at your address is confirmed only after a site visit.

Nothing on this website forms a quotation, a price, or a contractual commitment.

Enquiries and estimates

Submitting the enquiry form or calling us places you under no obligation. Site visits and written estimates are provided free of charge.

An estimate sets out the work we propose, what is included and what is excluded. It is valid for the period stated on it, and is based on the conditions visible at the time of the site visit. Where ground conditions, buried services or drainage are found to differ once excavation begins, we will stop, explain the position and agree any change with you in writing before continuing.

Carrying out the work

Work begins on a date agreed with you. Weather, access and material availability can affect programme dates; where they do, we will keep you informed.

We ask that access, parking and a water supply are available where the job requires them, and that you tell us about any private drains, cables or irrigation on the property that may not be visible.

Payment

Payment terms, including any staged payments and the balance due on completion, are set out in your written estimate and agreed before work starts. No payment terms are implied by this website.

Cancellation

Where a contract is agreed away from our business premises, you have the statutory right to cancel within 14 days of entering into it. If you have asked us to begin work within that period, we may charge for work already carried out. Cancellation requests should be sent to us in writing using the contact details below.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our liability is limited to the value of the work carried out.

Your statutory rights as a consumer, including the right to services carried out with reasonable care and skill, are unaffected by these terms.

Intellectual property

The text, images and design of this website belong to John Ruben Ltd and may not be reproduced without our written permission.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes fall to the courts of England and Wales.
